A team from the Centre sent to Mumbai to control rise in Measles cases

The three-person team consists of experts from the National Centre for Disease Control in New Delhi, Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, and the regional office for health and family welfare in Pune.

New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Union Health Ministry announced that it had sent a high-level, multidisciplinary team to Mumbai to assess the city’s increasing measles cases.

According to the statement, the team will support the state health authorities in implementing public health policies and facilitate operationalizing necessary control and containment measures. Experts from the National Center for Disease Control in New Delhi, Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, and the regional office for health and family welfare in Pune make up the three-person central team traveling to Mumbai.

Along with conducting fieldwork to investigate the outbreak, the team will also work with state health departments to develop public health policies, management guidelines, and procedures to deal with the growing number of measles cases reported in Mumbai.
