India recorded the second-highest number of cyber attacks in 2021, accounting for 7.7% of all cyber attacks on the healthcare industry, according to a study by the cyber security intelligence firm CloudSEK seen by PTI. A survey titled “Increased cyber attacks on the global healthcare sector” found that 28% of all attacks worldwide were directed at the US healthcare industry.

The analysis estimates that over 71 lakh records were affected by a 7.7% cyber attack incidence rate in the Indian healthcare sector. Cybercriminals now have new ways to attack the healthcare industry thanks to technological developments like remote health monitoring, electronic health records, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
According to the PTI, 1.87 lakh records have already been made in the first four months of 2022 in India.
